SITUATION
A property
management company which managed, owned and operated
hotels and conference centers had realized that as their
business had grown so had the need for remote employees
to stay in constant communication and to have secure
access to their core

business data and applications.
Much of the existing IT infrastructure had been
purchased over the years in response to isolated events. There was little standardization and no long term plan
or budget. Ideally the Client wanted to avoid or limit the risks
associated with misjudging the speed and pattern of
their future growth. They realized that an over
estimation could result in their purchasing unnecessary
hardware and software.
Given the relatively short
effective lifespan of such items they did not want to
risk wasting the upfront capital or to be committed to
pointless lease payments. |

SOLUTION
BlueRock upgraded the Client's infrastructure by
procuring new laptops for the mobile workforce and also
provided them with a hosted Microsoft Windows Terminal
Services solution.
The laptops are
standardized across the Client's business and enable
BlueRock to support and maintain them using techniques
usually found in much larger corporations.
The
hosted solution provides the Client with Microsoft
Office 2003 Professional software - with antivirus
protection and all data stored centrally and regularly
backed up. |

Additionally the staff have access to a corporate grade
email solution in the form of Microsoft Exchange 2003
Server which ensures that all of the corporate email
history is protected and backed up, whilst reducing spam
and email viruses (this was very popular). The new
ability to share calendars and contacts has also been
widely celebrated.
The
mobile staff also have access to the company's
accounting package and other key applications from where
ever they happen to be – whether at a customer’s site,
on the road or at home. Most importantly, this solution
was implemented while maintaining the security and
integrity of the existing data and systems. |
